Travelling Like A Professional With Olivia Lopez

Professional Tourists, L.A

“I’m a professional tourist. I write a site called Lust for Life where I publish photo essays and images of my personal style as well as contributing articles on design and travel for different publications. I chose the profession I’m in so that I was able to explore and capture the world around me! I love to travel to sleepy coastal towns, the American South West and urban centers – though really I don’t have a favorite: every place has something unique to offer in my eyes. My favourite thing about travelling around to different places would be the experience of learning something new, with new memories to hold on to and the novelty of immersing myself into a foreign experience, and expanding my culinary repertoire by trying new foods.”

“When I travel I prefer minimal, modern pieces that can be versatile but still fashion forward. After years of packing I’ve finally pegged that every garment needs to have a function.  I always check the weather. It’s something so simple but sometimes a spontaneous trip to somewhere that sounds warm and exotic doesn’t always translate to sunshine and sandy beaches, so I’ll always bring an Eres swimsuit, work out gear, trousers and my Acne coat. I’m a cultural chameleon when it comes to my wardrobe haha.”

“Emerging designers in accessible price ranges like By Far and Nanushka excite me! I also love Maryam Nassir Zadeh and Danse Lente! At the moment I’m loving pale yellow – I started collecting wardrobe pieces in this color over the summer and I saw it all over the runway for SS19. For online shopping my go-to sites are Need Supply, Moda Operandi, Matches, La Garconne, The Dreslyn, Net-a-Porter are my go-to online stores.”
