When people ask me to describe my style in one word, I say “simple but effective” (well, at least I hope it is).
If you ask me, great style is all about the way someone pairs things together. E.g. wearing grey on grey can make an understated statement because it takes confidence to go matchy/matchy, but making it neutral in tone keeps it chill.
Less is definitely more (when it’s done well) and being comfortable is key. A basic T-shirt and trousers might sound uninventive, but it never looks boring if they’re quality pieces and you’ve got the right accessories to add the finishing touches.
At the moment I’m obsessed with handbags emblazoned with metal hardware, and this J.W.Anderson one is the perfect day-to-night companion. During the day, it adds the right amount of bling to a vintage tee and sunnies, and it’s good to go for anywhere after dark too. The gold hardware + some cute gold jewellery = ample twinkle for the night.
But my wardrobe is an ongoing WIP, and the aim is always clear – edit-out the impulse buys, and invest in beautiful timeless pieces with a slight point of difference. A perfect wardrobe needs easy, classic pieces that go with everything and never lose their appeal.
So sit back, relax, and enjoy perusing this post which was brought to you by a vintage Mercedes, some light reading courtesy of JAMES FRANCO and, most importantly, the ultimate LBB (little black bag) by J.W.ANDERSON.
