Is it just me or is life literally flying by right now?
2016 has been like, “HI”/”BYE”. I’m begging for someone to hit the slo-mo button so I can catch-up on life in general.
Since launching this site I’ve had zero time for my favourite pastimes (like NETFLIX and hunting-down things online that I’m never actually going to buy), so I’ve been looking for ways to steal-back precious minutes where I can (e.g. I’ve put a hard ban on the Instagram ‘Explore’ tab and I’m wearing my fail-safe black blazer/black pants combo on repeat to cut-down on wasted time starring blankly at my wardrobe).
I’ve also sliced my morning make-up routine in half (maybe even a fifth?) by using three products only (min effort, max game face).
I mean, there are certain things I just can’t compromise on – like my 3/4 skim flat white (after my DIY Nespresso shot *ZING*) and gluten free toast with avocado – but I’m starting to feel like I’ve mastered the formula for looking polished (but not too much) without really trying at all.
It involves a combination of tips borrowed from French girls anonymous and my mum, and I hope you find it useful.
Start by watching the video, and then read my bonus tips below. Hope you likey!
BONUS TIPS
1. ALWAYS HAVE YOUR GO-TO OUTFIT ON STANDBY.
Mine is a black blazer, white tee and black pants or jeans. This combo can take me anywhere.
2. REFRAIN FROM CHECKING INSTAGRAM/EMAILS WEHN YOU WAKE UP.
I struggle with this one! But if you’re in a hurry, it will just stress you out more and cloud your mind with stuff that can wait until you’re at your desk.
3. ALWAYS HAVE AN ON-THE-GO BREAKFAST OPTION READY.
I find an espresso shot keeps me going until I can eat something substantial, but everyone’s different. Bananas are my other option!
4. INVEST IN MULTI-TASKING PRODUCTS.
Estée Lauder Double Wear Nude Cushion Stick Radiant Makeup is kinda moisturising, perfecting and illuminating all-in-one! I find the pen-like concept super quick and easy because I don’t have to use multiple tools and hardly get my hands dirty! This combined with a bit of Double Wear Brush-on Glow BB Highlighter (another pen!) makes my skin look like the best possible version of itself.
5. SIMPLIFY YOUR BEAUTY ROUTINE.
If I’m really in a rush, I brush-up my brows but skip eye makeup altogether. If my skins looking good it’s enough. A bit of colour on the cheeks and lips makes me look alive.
6. DO THE HAIR TUCK.
My hair holds texture pretty well, so if I do this tonging technique after I wash it, I usually find it keeps a nice wave until the next wash. If it’s looking ratty, I tuck it into my blazer = instantly polished!
